Key Role/Position Description
Assists the customer in managing information by identifying the best ways to organize, store and present data according to user needs. Identifies user requirements, sets up computer databases, tests and coordinates modifications to computer database systems, and responsible for capacity planning. Ensures the performance of the system, understands the platform on which the database runs, and adds new users to the system. Resolves user database problems, diagnoses database performance issues, and ensures the data is available by maximizing database uptime. Maintains data security by managing access, privileges, and information migration. Able to build strong customer relationships and must be comfortable in a client site setting. Position is located in the northern Virginia area.
Required Qualifications:
Previous experience as Systems Administrator and knowledge of Database Systems
5+ years of experience in system engineering or relevant technical experience in the general area of computer science, information systems, engineering, mathematics, or other related scientific or technical discipline
Experience with hardware and software trouble-shooting, debugging, and problem resolution
Strong communications and interpersonal skills
BS degree required
TS/SCI with Polygraph required
Additional Qualifications:
Knowledge of Agency server technologies and systems
Knowledge of Agency’s communications and information security policies and practices
Ability to translate user requirements into technical design and implement code
Application development experience in multiple disciplines
Development experience in SQL, PL/SQL
Experience in integration of COTS/GOTS tools
Prior experience with full life-cycle software development projects
Strong problem solving skills
Knowledge of UNIX/Linux
Possession of excellent team leadership and development skills
Possession of excellent client relationship skills and prior consulting background
MS degree
